I wanted my visual montage to highlight the joys of field hockey and help my audience view it as MORE than just a sport because it is! I didn’t use clips on the field or at practice, I figured instead, I’d use behind-the-scene joys of being on a team growing up. Youth participation in sports is so important, and unfortunately, there is a massive decline right now. By taking the pressure off kids and high school-age athletes to perform at a high level, we can help them focus on the friendships, teamwork, and personal growth that sports can foster. I wanted to showcase moments of laughter, celebrations after a goal, and the bonds formed during team outings. These experiences remind us that field hockey—and sports in general—offer invaluable life lessons about collaboration, resilience, and community. I hope that by emphasizing these aspects, we can inspire more young people to get involved, creating lasting memories and friendships that extend beyond the field.
