Journal for Sunday, Oct. 20th
I begin the morning by rolling over to check my phone and see what time it is and make sure I don’t have any texts or missed calls that indicate any emergency. After that I take my apple watch off the charger and slap it on my wrist in order to ensure I’m getting every step of my day accounted for. I then hop out of bed and drag my feet into the kitchen to make coffee. After freshly grinding my beans with an electric coffee grinder I dump them into the electric coffee machine that brews my coffee in seconds with the touch of a button. I usually don’t go on my phone until an hour after waking up, instead I stroll into the living room, turn on the lights and set the thermostat for the day, which uses wireless technology to cool and heat my apartment. I sit down on the couch with my coffee and put on the TV using a Samsung TV remote which controls wherever I roam on the TV. I then watch a show while I cook my breakfast, I make eggs and bacon, so I have to use my stovetop which is electric by the way.
Yesterday I didn’t have a lot of time to do this though because I go to mass on Sunday mornings at 12:30, which technically is the afternoon, but I usually sleep in and wake up around 10:30 for recovery purposes. After eating I go into my bedroom and check my phone, I open up the weather app to check the forecast and then open my snaps and texts from friends. I usually scroll on TikTok for way too long, then I go to my settings app, go to Bluetooth then connect to my ECHO speaker in my bedroom to play my music that I stream on Spotify while I take a shower. I get changed and head out the door to church, I drive there by using my touch to start vehicle, thanks to modern driving technology I don’t even have to use a physical key anymore.
As I leave the church parking lot, I connect Bluetooth to my car and play my music on Spotify once again, I then head to Giant to pick up some groceries for lunch. As I’m checking out, I pull out my phone to use apple pay. I have a physical card, but I barely use it anymore because most places take mobile payment. I go back to my apartment, drop off my groceries then get dressed to go on my walk. I grab my air pods, so I’ll have music to listen to, which requires Bluetooth and a wireless connection to my phone. Before I start my walk, I make sure to go on to my apple watch and start my fitness tracker in order to see how many steps and miles I hit. It also shows me the duration of my walk, my heart rate, how many calories burned, elevation change, and the route I took. After completing this I hit end walk and it shows me my goals and challenges completed. It is now around 5 o’clock, so I head home to cook dinner.
Once I’m home I enter into my apartment parking garage by scanning my eagle one into the building and then park and lock my car using my wireless keys. Then I scan my eagle one once again in order to use the elevator to leave the parking garage. I then walk to the eagle apartments and scan my eagle one, one last time to enter the building then take the elevator up to the fourth floor. Once I’ve made it to my door I enter manually because we don’t lock our door, I then head to my room to scroll on my phone some more. Around 6, I received an email on my phone saying a package arrived for me in the mail room. I head downstairs to the front desk and use my eagle one to pick it up and then sign my electronic signature to confirm I picked it up.
I head upstairs because I have some cleaning up to do, I scrub off my dishes and load them into the dishwasher which I start with the touch of a button. Then I began dinner, I made squash, so I asked my amazon Alexa to set a 40-minute timer with just the sound of my voice. At the end of the night me and my roommate sit in the living room and do our homework, which is all on our laptops. As we work, we watch TV, usually Jersey Shore, and get our assignments done. Afterwards, we head to bed and set our alarms on our phones to make sure we wake up for class the next morning.
